A Bangkok and Phuket idea
Six nights, two bases, one transfer, and a day on Phuket that is allowed to be empty.
Overnight bases
Nights one and two: Bangkok, near the river temples if Wat Phra Kaew, Wat Pho, and Wat Arun are the point, or nearer your departure station or airport if the flight south is early. Nights three to six: one Phuket beach. Patong if you want the town. Kata or Karon if you want a slightly calmer southern beach. Mai Khao if you want the quieter north and accept the rides. Do not change Phuket hotels mid-stay.
Day by day
- Bangkok, arrival Clear the Thailand Digital Arrival Card before you fly, using the embassy instructions in First trip. Do one short walk if you have daylight. Do not schedule Wat Phra Kaew for the hour you land.
- Bangkok, two temples Wat Phra Kaew and Wat Pho, or Wat Pho and Wat Arun. Stop. Eat in Yaowarat only if you still want to be out. This is the day Bangkok describes.
- Transfer south The job of the day is the journey. Fly or take the land route you have actually booked. This page does not quote a fare or a duration, because both move. Sleep on Phuket. If the flight slips, the spare day at the end absorbs it.
- Phuket, the beach at your door Learn the swim flag. TAT says to look for a red flag before swimming. Eat within walking distance.
- Phuket, one outing Laem Phromthep and a different beach, or a boat toward Phi Phi if the forecast is calm and the return can slip. Not both. Read Koh Phi Phi before you buy the boat.
- Phuket, the spare day If the flag was red or the boat was cancelled, this is the beach day you still get. If everything went well, repeat the best swim or take the outing you skipped.
If a connection changes
A missed or delayed flight south does not get replaced with a night bus plus a dawn boat. Stay with the hotel night you can still use, and delete the boat before you delete the beach. A red flag deletes swimming, not the island. There is no second destination hiding in this itinerary. Krabi and Lanta are a different idea, Southern islands.
